Most Spoken Language in the World

Chinese is the most spoken language in the world. Estimates suggest around 1.2 billion people speak the Chinese language. The linguistic experts of this language suggest that it has 7 to 13 main regional dialects. Most of the people speak the famous Mandarin dialect. Interestingly, there is a lot of difference between the dialects regarding meaning and context.

Mandarin the Common Dialect

There is a standardization of the Chinese language into Mandarin. Most of the people in China understand this dialect. They are also fluent in speaking in the Mandarin. Around 67 countries use it as their official language.

Hindi

More than 350 million people use the language Hindi. It is not only spoken in India. Other countries and places where people speak Hindi include Mauritius, Suriname, Guyana, Tobago, and Nepal. Many other languages use Hindi words like thug, guru, jungle, karma, yoga, and bungalow. The word Hindi is derived from the word “Hind” meaning land of river Indus.

Arabic

All the Arab countries around the world talk in Arabic. Around 290 to 340 million people communicate in the Arabic language. The origins of the Maltese language come from Arabic. Arabic is considered one of the toughest languages to learn. You need at least 1.7 years to comprehend the Arabic language fully. The language is as old as at least 1500 years.

Portuguese

About 215 million people in the world speak the Portuguese language. It officially became a language back in 1290. Africa has around 5 million native Portuguese speakers. A Portuguese language verb can be taken into six different meanings or contexts. Despite Portuguese spoken in Brazil and Portugal, both have different writing systems for this language.
