While he's not going to return for today's remaining set of events in day one of the IPL 2022 auction, good news has come in regarding his health. The auctioneer who has since regained consciousness is feeling much better and steadily recovering after suffering from postural hypotension.
Postural hypotension occurs when a dramatic drop in a person's blood pressure takes place due to change in his body position. It usually occurs when a person moves to a vertical position from sitting or standing or from lying down to sitting and typically occurs in senior citizens.
The sudden change in position after being in one state for a lengthy period of time leads to a temporary reduction in blood flow resulting in a shortage of oxygen to the brain which results in lightheadedness and a loss of consciousness. With Hugh having stood in the same position for a lengthy period as players went under the hammer, his sudden change in posture lead to him collapsing.
Charu Sharma will be taking over from Hugh for Saturday's proceedings.
