Know how much will Mercedes make after winning the F1 Constructors Championship title and the prize money distribution for 2021
Although Lewis Hamilton failed to win his eight drivers' championship title, Mercedes managed to bring home a record eight successive F1 constructors championship title with the pair of Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas managing to ease past Red Bull.
Elsewhere, Verstappen raked in his inaugural drivers' championship title as he won the Abu Dhabi 2021 Grand Prix after a safety car deployment in the 53rd lap allowed him to get fresh soft tyres. They allowed him the opportunity to move ahead of Hamilton and with it become the first ever driver from Netherlands to get his hands around the prestigious trophy.
F1 2021 Prize Money: How Much Mercedes Will Make For Winning The Constructors Championship
Prize money is divided into two categories with one half of the fund going to the F1 group and its shareholders while the other half goes to the teams. The prize money is equivalent to 47.5% of the profit made by the F1 which is divided into two with one half split between the top ten teams in the championship.
F1 has generated $1.38billion in 2021 (£1.05bn) as revenue and the winning side will receive up to £50m extra for winning the Championship.
Hamilton is the highest paid driver this season with him earning £22m per year while Verstappen earns £18m. Hamilton has already made £47m this season while Verstappen made £32m plus bonus and Fernando Alonso is third at £19m.
A Hamilton win would have released a £17.5m in bonus money which would have been given to Mercedes staff with 2,000 staff receiving around £10,000 in bonus money.
