Sunbury Road southbound closed - Update

Southbound Sunbury Road at Maxtown closed Monday as scheduled. Despite a special duty Delaware County Sheriffs Deputy parked in a patrol car behind the Road Closed sign and orange barrels blocking access to the southbound lane several cars an hour attempted to drive past the barriers and had to be stopped by the officer.

The deputy warned to be very careful going north on Sunbury Road because an officer will not be on duty 24 hours a day to keep some motorists from driving into opposing traffic on the now single lane road.

Southbound traffic on Sunbury Road from Maxtown to County Line will be detoured beginning Monday, May 1, 2017.

Traffic intended to southbound Sunbury Road will be detoured to Spring Road to County Line Road.

The anticipated completion date for this project is late fall 2017*. *This schedule is an estimate. All work is weather dependent.
