Pohoda Festival 2016 is Slovakia's biggest music festival. A vast array of arts and performance is matched by a super-eclectic lineup, with rock, pop, folk, metal and electronic music all represented across the festival weekend.
Theatre, film screenings, dance competitions, poetry slams, debates and magic shows – all of this goes hand in hand with Pohoda's incredible music lineup, making for one of the continent's most accomplished all-rounder festivals.
Huge performances from the likes of Björk, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Lou Reed and Kraftwerk have lit up Trenčín Airport over the years, confirming that Pohoda's reputation allows it to bring the very biggest stars to a comparatively intimate event.
Pohoda Festival 2016 is an open-air summer music festival in Slovakia, first organized in 1997 in Trenčín.
It is one of the biggest Slovak music events organized annually. The current venue is Trenčín Airport.
The festival features alternative music, rock, pop, dance music, world music, house, techno, drum and bass, hip hop, but also theatre, discussions, chamber music, dance and literature workshops.
The actual record-high attendance is 33,000 people/day from 2009. Since 2010 the festival capacity is limited to 30,000 visitors.
The first festival organized on 29 June 1997 was called "Kráľovská Pohoda". It took place at the Trenčín town stadium. About 2,000 people attended the event but only 140 tickets were sold. Four Slovak, three Czech and one Russian bands played there.
