Uber banned from autonomous vehicle testing in Arizona after fatal crash

Uber suspended autonomous vehicle testing in Arizona after last week’s fatal crash in the city of Tempe, according to the Associated Press. Accident occurred at night with autonomous test driver Rafaela Vasquez distracted right before moment of impact with a pedestrian, who died on site.

The ban came in force initiated by the office of Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey on Monday with a following letter:

Uber banned from autonomous vehicle testing in Arizona

Uber was testing self-driving cars in Arizona since 2016. The company previously tested it's autonomous cars in San Francisco, however the company was forced to remove vehicles by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
