Paul Dano Joins Matt Reeves' 'The Batman' as The Riddler

Paul Dano has been cast as The Riddler in Matt Reeves' "The Batman." He joins the growing cast of Robert Pattinson, Zoë Kravitz and Jeffrey Wright.
Dano is a Golden Globe nominee, recognized for his supporting performance in Bill Pohlad's 2014 feature, "Love & Mercy." Dano has starred in movies such as "12 Years a Slave," "Little Miss Sunshine," "Prisoners" and "Being Flynn." In 2008, he was nominated at the BAFTAs for his supporting role opposite Daniel Day-Lewis in Paul Thomas Anderson's "There Will Be Blood."

Earlier this year, Dano was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his role supporting role in "Escape at Dannemora." His directorial feature, last year's "Wildlife," starred Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan.
The Riddler is known in the comics as one of Batman's biggest villains of Gotham City. With puzzles and riddles, he taunts both the authorities and the caped hero. He was created in the DC comics by created by Bill Finger and Dick Sprang. In Reeves' "The Batman," The Riddler's real name will be Edward Nashton, instead of the name Edward Nigma.
Dano joins the cast of Reeves' "The Batman," a film that has been making casting headlines recently. Earlier in the week, Zoë Kravitz was announced for the role of Selina Kyle, also known as Catwoman. Kravitz has starred in "Gemini," "Kin," "Divergent," "Big Little Lies" and "Mad Max: Fury Road." "Westworld"s Jeffrey Wright was announced in September to be joining the cast as Commissioner Gordon.
The “War for the Planet of the Apes” director will be penning and following his own script for the film. Plot details are unknown.
“The Batman” is set for a June 25, 2021 release date from Warner Bros and DC.
