Neil Patrick Harris Joins the Cast of Lana Wachowski's 'Matrix 4'

Neil Patrick Harris has boarded the cast of Lana Wachowski's "Matrix 4." Harris will be joining Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in the fourth installment to the "Matrix" franchise.
According to Variety, Harris is boarding the film, which has no known plot details yet. Harris' role is undisclosed. The comedian and actor was last seen starring in Netflix's "A Series of Unfortunate Events." His most recent roles in feature films were in David Fincher's "Gone Girl" and Alexander Payne's "Downsizing."
News of "The Matrix"'s fourth sequel development was first announced in August, where it was revealed Lana Wachowski would return to produce, write and direct the fourth film. Reeves and Moss were also announced to reprise their roles for the feature. Last week, Yahya Abdul-Mateen ("Aquaman") was announced to have a role in the film.

Wachowski will be writing, directing and producing the fourth installment. The story continues with fans of the original keeping a close eye on it. “Matrix 4” is an addition to a franchise that has long been regarded as one of the best action sci-fi film series. “The Matrix” was released in 1999 and produced with an estimated $63 million budget and went on to gross more than $463 million worldwide.
“Many of the ideas Lilly and I explored 20 years ago about our reality are even more relevant now,” said Wachowski, when the sequel news first broke. Lana co-created and directed the original 1999 film with sister Lilly Wachowski.
Warner Bros and Village Roadshow are reteaming to produce the project. Wachowski will produce with Grant Hill. Wachowski will co-write the script with Aleksander Hemon (“Sense8”) and David Mitchell. The film is set to release in 2022 with production slated to begin in early 2020.
