Im Spiegel der Vergangenheit: Die 90-jährige Éva Fahidi, die als junge Frau den Holocaust überlebte, lässt gemeinsam mit der Tänzerin Emese Cuhorka auf der Bühne schmerzhafte Erinnerungen wiederaufleben. THE EUPHORIA OF BEING dokumentiert die monatelange Probenarbeit und den tiefgreifenden dialogischen Prozess, der sich zwischen den beiden Frauen entspinnt. Tanz als Therapie und Traumabewältigung. Ein Ansatz, ebenso berührend wie innovativ.
Wir freuen uns sehr, am 06. Mai 2020 mit THE EUPHORIA OF BEING unsere erste Online-Festivaledition zu eröffnen – und das im (leeren) Deutschen Theater. Moderatorin Christina Wolf und Festivalleiter Daniel Sponsel stellen das Programm und die Juries vor, sprechen mit der bayerischen Staatsministerin für Digitales Judith Gerlach und dem Kulturreferenten der Landeshauptstadt München Anton Biebl. Zu Gast ist mit der ungarischen Choreographin Réka Szabó auch die Regisseurin des Films.

In Erwartung besserer Zeiten: Leerer Kinosaal in LA FIN DES TERRES von Loïc Darses
Das Festival-Feeling, so wie wir es lieben und feiern, entsteht im Kinosaal – durch die Magie der Filme auf der großen Leinwand, die Begegnung von Zuschauer.innen und Filmschaffenden und die oft mitreißenden Gespräche, die sich daraus ergeben. All das kann das DOK.fest München @home in diesem Jahr nicht wie gewohnt bieten. Der Notstand im Zuge der Eindämmung des Coronavirus zwingt uns dazu, unser Programm im Internet zu veranstalten, um so den wunderbaren Festivalfilmen zu ihrem Publikum zu verhelfen. Ein großes Wagnis und doch, in den Augen unserer Festivalleitung, auch eine Chance – nicht zuletzt für die Kinokultur in Deutschland.

we have been working intensively for weeks towards this moment: Today we are finally able to give the starting signal for DOK.fest München @home 2020 and invite you all to the grand opening. Unlike in recent years, we cannot experience this event together with you at the Deutsches Theater. We deeply regret this, but we are still happy to be able to present you our outstanding international films online. That we are not at all heralding the end of our beloved cinema culture is shown by our festival management in their greeting to DOK.fest München @home. And the virtual poster exhibition gives you an exhilarating guided tour through the film programme. Welcome to DOK.fest München @home!

The festival feeling, the way we love and celebrate it, is created in the cinema hall - through the magic of the films on the big screen, the meeting of the audience and filmmakers and the often rousing conversations that result. This year, DOK.fest München @home cannot offer all this as usual. The state of emergency in the course of the containment of the corona virus forces us to organize our programme on the Internet, in order to help the wonderful festival films reach their audience after all. A great risk and yet, in the eyes of our festival management, also a chance - not least for the cinema culture in Germany.

Connected in movement – THE EUPHORIA OF BEING by Réka Szabó
In the mirror of the past: 90-year-old Éva Fahidi, who survived the Holocaust as a young woman, relives painful memories on stage together with dancer Emese Cuhorka. THE EUPHORIA OF BEING documents the months of rehearsals and the profound dialogical process that unfolds between the two women. Dance as therapy and overcoming trauma. An approach as touching as it is innovative.
We are very pleased to open our first online festival edition on May 6th, 2020 with this moving film, at the (empty) Deutsches Theater. Presenter Christina Wolf and festival director Daniel Sponsel will introduce the programme and the juries, talk to the Bavarian Minister of State for Digital Affairs Judith Gerlach and the Cultural Affairs Officer of the City of Munich Anton Biebl. The Hungarian choreographer Réka Szabó, the director of THE EUPHORIA OF BEING, will also be our guest.
