Beijing: June 4 is a very special day for the people of China. On this day in 1989, the ruthless Communist government of China threw tanks on thousands of students who were protesting.
There are different figures, official and unofficial, about the people who died in this incident.
According to the Chinese government, about 300 people died in this incident, while Europe believes that more than ten thousand people were killed in it. At the same time, the Chinese believe that 3 thousand people died in it.
The incident began with the death of Hu Yaobang, a moderate leader of the Communist Party. Hu had ascended to the highest office of the Communist Party of China.
He was the party's chairman from 1981-1982 and then general secretary of the party from 1982-87.
Hu's political stature and status also increased significantly after Mao's death. In his political career, he reformed China in many ways.
He wanted to make the country and the government completely transparent. Apart from this, he also wanted that China's relations with its neighbouring countries should be unquestionably better. But his side was not liked by other party leaders.
This was the reason that when there was a massive student demonstration in China in 1987, his opponents started blaming him for it. He was pressurized to resign from the post of General Secretary of the party.
When he died on 15 April 1989 after suffering a heart attack, the party treated him very normally.
Angered by this, his supporters gathered in large numbers at Tiananmen Square, raised slogans against the government and submitted a memorandum to the government demanding that his last rites should be performed keeping it under national mourning and party leaders should attend it.
However, this did not have any effect and no leader had reached even to bid him a final farewell. After this incident, Hu's widow also accused Communist Party leaders of ignoring and disregarding her.
He said the same people were behind Hu's death. Budapest Mayor Gergli Karaksoni has come up with a wonderful way to draw attention to China's atrocities.
Protesters against the government erected the Statue of Democracy at Tiananmen Square on May 30.
On June 2, martial law was imposed on all sides and on June 3, the army was ordered to remove all protesters from this square at any cost.
The army fired indiscriminately at the protesters, causing a stampede. After this incident, the anger of the people of China had flared up against the government.
The government was furiously outraged by these demonstrations and to control them, they took down the army and tanks on the streets.
The army, police behaved brutally on the protesters. Thousands of people lost their lives in this incident.
Taiwan has launched a scathing attack on China's aggressive vaccine diplomacy. Since then, on June 4, the government makes unprecedented security arrangements at this square so that no demonstration can take place here.
The former Defence Minister of China, General Wei Fenghe, considers the action of the Chinese government to be correct. He said that it was a political instability.
China has also been accused repeatedly that it has been erasing the evidence related to this massacre.
In 2019, a survey report was prepared by the University of Toronto in collaboration with the University of Hong Kong on this massacre.
It was revealed in this that the Chinese government has destroyed more than 3 thousand evidences related to this incident.
