Democrats Using DACA Recipients As Midterm Election Pawns
Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine criticized President Donald Trump Sunday morning for suggesting Democrats had all but abandoned the so-called Dreamers during the Omnibus negotiations.

“He is either lying, or he is completely delusional,” Virginia Democratic Sen. Kaine told CNN’s “State of the Union” about Trump’s assertion Democrats avoided including into a fix to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) into 2019’s budget bill.

Former President Barack Obama began the DACA program in 2012 to protect illegal immigrants who arrived as minors. The program protects roughly 800,000 illegal immigrants, some of whom are in their 30s. He used congressional inaction as justification for the program.

Kaine suggested If President Trump believes in DACA, all he has to do is retract his executive order that ended the program. What Kaine does not understand is the Obama 2012 Executive Order that created DACA was unconstitutional.

The DACA executive order was already making its way through the courts and it would have eventually arrived at the doorstep of the supreme court, and by all accounts, the vote would have gone 5-4 against the DACA program.

But Trump's motivation was rooted not in ending DACA, what he was after was a permanent fix. Trump believed that by ending the DACA program, the Democrats would have been reasonable. That was his first mistake.

The President comments on the recently passed Omnibus saying “They fought every inch of the way. They did not want DACA in this bill,” only confirms that long before the Omnibus, the Democrats had weaponized DACA.

They started using DACA as a pawn during the budget debate in January, going as far as using it and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) program as their excuse for temporarily shutting down the government.

During the negotiations to reopen the government the Republicans offered the Democrats a long-term extension of CHIP as well as the delay of some unpopular health care taxes.

But the Democrats rejected the deal and the shutdown continued. But Pelosi and Schumer miscalculated the backing they had for DACA and Illegal immigrants in general. Polls from Democrat firms showed voters were not keen on using DACA to hold up a budget deal.

Before it had started the Democrats truly believed the blame for the shutdown would fall squarely on Trump, but within a day after the Government closed, #SchumersShutdown was all the rage on Social Media. After three days, the Democrats folded, which created the #SchumerCaved hashtag.

After the government reopened the White House offered a one-page “Framework on Immigration Reform & Border Security” it gave a pathway to citizenship to 1.8 million illegal immigrants, in exchange for $25 billion to fund the border wall.

Despite Trump more than doubling the 800,000 illegal immigrants that Pelosi and Schumer sought, the two minority morons stubbornly refused to budge over concessions on new, stricter immigration requirements and funding the border wall.

Now after the latest Trump Omnibus offer was rejected out of hand by the Democrats, there is no telling how this will play out in the 2018 Midterms.

One thing is certain, the Republicans need to do a better job at messaging to avoid the disaster they created for themselves during last Decembers Trump Tax Reform debate.

Recent polling shows Hispanics are evenly split on whether to combine a DACA deal to the building of a wall — 42 percent of Hispanics oppose it and 42 percent support it, according to the Quinnipiac poll conducted Jan. 18. In total, 73 percent of voters support allowing Dreamers to remain in the U.S. legally, according to the poll.
