MSM: Trump White House Much More Media Friendly Than Obama's
CNN claims that Trump is evil and the White House wants nothing more than to shut out the Mainstream media. Now it turns out that their claims may not be as true as they would like you to believe.
Color me shocked... CNN Lied?
Every time CNN makes this silly claim I keep thinking back to one part of our Repugnant David Corn Pens More Mother Jones Trump Hyperbole story written in 2017.
In 2011 The Obama administration received a transparency award because, as the Washington Post wrote: "Good-government groups believe Obama has done more in two years than any of his predecessors did to open wide the often-closed doors of government."
The award that was bestowed on Obama were from groups like OMB Watch that advocate for government transparency. Inconceivably, the"Transparency Award" was presented behind closed doors at the White House, and the press was neither informed nor invited.
The Obama Transparency award ceremony didn't appear on Obama's publicly-released daily schedule, there was no official White House readout of the meeting, no photos released and no transcript of the exchange. That my friends, perfectly sums up the Obama's Presidency media access.
From the Hill's 2016 article Obama's legacy: The trashing of free speech
"U.S. President Barack Obama came into office pledging open government, but he has fallen short of his promise. Journalists and transparency advocates say the White House curbs routine disclosure of information and deploys its own media to evade scrutiny by the press. Aggressive prosecution of leakers of classified information and broad electronic surveillance programs deter government sources from speaking to journalists."
Despite all the CNN bloviating, Mainstream Media (MSM) is slowly starting to admit that the Trump White House is far more Media-Friendly than President Obama’s.
Quotes from probably the three media outlets that despise Trump as much as CNN.
Doug Mills a staff photographer from Washington D.C. office of The New York Times
“We’re getting a lot more, I mean from a photographer’s standpoint, we get a lot more access to the president. I see him more on a daily basis than we did with Barack Obama,” Mills told the C-Span. “Sometimes three or four times a day, sometimes five times a day we will see him.”
James Goodale, the former general counsel of the New York Times wrote:
“President Obama wants to criminalize the reporting of national security information” and added: “President Obama will surely pass President Richard Nixon as the worst president ever on issues of national security and press freedom.”
Leonard Downie, Jr. former Washington Post executive editor wrote:
“In the Obama administration’s Washington, government officials are increasingly afraid to talk to the press.” Among the most shameful aspects of the Obama record:
Six government employees, plus two contractors including Edward Snowden, have been subjects of felony criminal prosecutions since 2009 under the 1917 Espionage Act, accused of leaking classified information to the press—compared with a total of three such prosecutions in all previous U.S. administrations.
Michael Oreskes, a senior managing editor of The Associated Press:
‘The Obama administration has been extremely controlling and extremely resistant to journalistic intervention. There’s a mind-set and approach that holds journalists at a greater distance.”
Next time CNN claims Trump is placing a target on their back, maybe you should consider the source and ask. Why would President Trump feel its necessary to single out CNN and call them "Fake News" in the first place?
