Tim Tebow is the only Football player that, according to liberals, has no right to kneel on a football field, or anywhere else for that matter.

Spring training for Major League Baseball doesn't begin for nearly a month yet, but for Tim Tebow haters it was "Play Ball."

Moments after The New York Mets announced that the outfielder will start spring training in their major league camp, the man the left loves to hate was in their sights.

Tebows' 1st Season Wasn't Record Breaking, but...
Overall, he finished the year with a .226 batting average, eight home runs, and 52 RBIs. He hit .220 with three home runs and 23 RBIs in 64 games for the Columbia Fireflies of the South Atlantic League before being promoted to the Florida State League in June. He hit five home runs and 29 RBIs for the St. Lucie Mets.

From the splits Tebows' lowering his strikeout rate, in a tougher league means that he was 'seeing' the ball better.

I know it's not a lot to hang your baseball cap on, but, considering Tebow had not played baseball competitively since high school, is pretty damn impressive.

In fact, hitting .226 with a not outrageous strikeout rate gave the New York Mets a legitimate reason to give Tebow another look. Plus he does bring in fans. As evidenced by Tebow doubling and tripling attendance at every park he played at.

Once you adjust for the league offensive environment, Tebow was approximately 8 percent worse than league average with Columbia and 3 percent worse than average with St. Lucie.

Since Tebow had not played professional baseball in over 10-years, he wasn't great, but he didn't stink out the joint either.
Jordon vs Tebow
The only person I could think of, that was in a similar position as Tebow, was Michael Jordon. The Chicago Bull Basketball great left the game to start his Baseball career. Unlike Tebow who is an old 26-years-old, by Baseball standards, Jordon was ancient at age 31.

Jordon played 127 games, hitting just .202 with 3 Home runs and a strikeout rate of 27% in MJ's first and only year playing professional baseball.

Same Old Excuses
Despite putting up numbers that earned at least a second chance for Tebow to show the Mets improvement, the left was quick to jump all over the NY Mets announcement.

Many trotted out the old "He's taking a spot from someone else." Funny, those that use this lazy, tired, excuse, never mention exactly who that person is that was more deserving?

It's the old standby saying for those who don't actually have a legitimate reason but feel the need to disparage the person they hate. Similar to how Democrats cry "He's a racist" then never having to explain exactly why the person is racist.

The lefty writers also went with the other old excuse "They are only doing this to draw in fans." Umm, what is every team from A-ball to the MLB trying to do? Draw fans to the ballpark.

Winning is almost secondary to attendance. Without fannies in the seats, no team except maybe the New York Yankees will sign better players for more money, to make their team win more games.

For those that use these excuses means they are just lazy reporters, in need of a somewhat legitimate excuse to attack the person they hate most.
The Left Swings For The Fences
Never addressing the fact that Tim Tebow had not swung at a 98mph fastball in over a decade, the left hatred of Tebow seems to be enough of an excuse to disparage him.

USA Today's Gabe Lacques took a couple cheap shots at Tebow by comparing him to Don Quixote?

"The telegenic former Heisman Trophy winner will once again be the most scrutinized player in camp as his quixotic bid to forge a career in baseball resumes.

"In 2017, he was added frequently to the major league roster and – after going to the wrong on-deck circle before his first at-bat – did not embarrass himself often in nine Grapefruit League games, starting 0 for 9 before pushing his average as high as .235 and getting hits off reputable major league pitchers such as St. Louis’ Michael Wacha. He finished with a .148 spring average (4 for 27) with eight strikeouts."



R.J. Anderson, of CBS Sports, said it's been a quiet offseason for Tebow, which ...

"... should help (if only a little) remove the sideshow veneer from his attempt at a baseball career. ... As such, there's no real downside to bringing him to the big-league side during the spring and seeing what happens. In three months' time, nobody will remember or care."

Dan Crawford, writer for the Busted Coverage blog, joined the chorus from a sarcastic angle, saying it slipped his mind that Tebow is the same guy who was mashing home runs and making Gold Glove-caliber plays in left field last season:

"It seems to me that the Mets aren’t here to play games. They’re all in on TebowMania. You can call it a PR stunt or call it a way to sell more tickets, but it doesn’t matter. It’s not like Mets management is out here to win games. Even if he stinks, bring him on up. He got his year in the minors, now it’s time for big boy baseball. We’re going to need this in the dog days of summer.
"I’ll just say this, it will be a major disappointment if we don’t see him trotting out to left at Citi Field by the All-Star break."




Yahoo! Sports' Darin Gantt wrote "The Mets aren’t backing down from the Tim Tebow experiment/publicity stunt," but did add he "was a good teammate and the kind of citizen other people want to be around."



Yahoo! Sports' Liz Roscher wrote the Mets may not cut him too quickly because he draws fans and they "probably want to get their slice of the 'Tebow effect' pie, too."

Believe it or not, the rhetoric has been toned down. Maybe the liberals feel Tebow who places God above all else, is no longer a threat to their Godless ideology?

But considering that Major League Baseball is almost impossibly hard to play, and Tebow's chances for a career are pretty slim. It is still amazing that in the middle of Winter, one little tweet about Tim Tebow can still get Liberals so hot under the collar.
