James Barker Band and more added to BX93 Country Night with Old Dominion at Start.ca Rocks the Park

James-Barker-BandStart.ca Rocks the Park (formerly Rock the Park) has announced its first night of this year’s festival. After taking a year off of country programming, BX93 has teamed back up with Start.ca Rocks the Park and country music is back.

Wednesday, July 10th will feature already announced headliner, Old Dominion along with support acts James Barker Band, David Lee Murphy, Russell Dickerson, Tenille Townes and a rising star soon to be announced February 25.

“We’ve always had amazing success with country music, but we felt that it was oversaturated in 2018 and we didn’t want to program a line-up that wasn’t appealing to our fans,” said Jones Entertainment Group President Brad Jones. This led us to taking a year off. After listening to our fans about how much they missed their favourite part of summer, we knew we had to work hard to bring it back.”

Old Dominion

With Old Dominion recently winning ACM Vocal Group of the year, James Barker Band being hotter than ever, David Lee Murphy pumping up the crowd to Dust on a Bottle, Russell Dickerson with two recent top hits, and Tenille Townes with the number one hit on Canadian country radio, the festival is primed to be a country hotspot.

Old Dominion – the 2018 ACM and CMA Vocal Group of the Year has emerged as one of the hottest breaking bands in country music, fusing clever lyrics and an infectious sound. Proving that they are not your average country band, Old Dominion blends old-fashioned country charm, lyrical wit and rock n' roll grit into radio-

friendly, hook-heavy pop nuggets. Old Dominion’s sophomore album, Happy Endings, debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart and No. 7 on the Billboard Top 200. Their latest single, “Make It Sweet,” follows the success of previous singles “No Such Thing As A Broken Heart,” “Written in the Sand” and “Hotel Key,” all of which hit No. 1 on Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase charts.

With over 48 Million total streams to date, the James Barker Band have taken the country music scene by storm. Formed in 2013, the founding members of this award-winning band (James Barker, Taylor Abram, Bobby Martin, and Connor Stephen) continue to break records one release at a time. The James Barker Band first burst onto the scene when they won the Boots and Hearts Emerging Artist Showcase in 2015 and were signed to Universal Music Canada.

Million-selling singer-songwriter David Lee Murphy’s songs “Dust on the Bottle and “Party Crowd” continue to be staples at country radio.

Nashville native Russell Dickerson has had an incredible reaction to his current single, “Yours.” The power ballad was selected for Sirius XM’s The Highway Find program, which showcases new, and oftentimes unsigned, artists to country music fans across the country.

Canadian-born Tenille Townes isn’t quite like anyone else who has graced the city’s stages. With the lyrical

fortitude of Griffin or Lori McKenna, the soulful nature of Chris Stapleton or even Adele, Townes is paving ground all her own.
