Amy Schumer and Friends bring out the laughs and the titties in Windsor
I was expecting a potty-mouthed tittie flashing night at Amy Schumer’s Colosseum show on Thursday night, but it wasn’t Amy herself that went the full distance, it was her support act Bridget Everett who brought the house down. Schumer seemed rather tame and almost subdued as she rolled through her material, but Everett literally “put ‘em up” and had the crowd either in tears or leaving the venue in a panic.

Olde Walkerville TheatreSchumer was certainly the star of the show though. The comedian is hot on the heels of the video release of her latest smash hit movie I Feel Good and is in the midst of a popular summer tour that began a month ago.

She entered the stage wearing a frumpy red dress, giving the show a very laid back and casual approach. Appearing to be genuinely happy to be there, Schumer talked a bit about Canada and the US, as well as the trouble she got in wearing a Canada Goose, coyote-lined jacket last winter.

Things got a bit more “Amy Schumer like” when she started talking about pubic hair, her crotch and male body parts, but about halfway through her set, she began gazing down at notes and seemed less focused.

Maybe it’s her recent marriage to chef Chris Fischer that had swayed her into spending less time on crotch jokes and more time on married life. She actually spent a good portion of the show making fun of her new hubby’s fishing hook incident and talking about married life. Maybe our little Amy is growing up a bit, but I was looking forward to the Amy we saw in the clips in her career spanning opening video.

She also incorporated a cell phone lock-out program which was a first here in Windsor.

Yondr pouches were handed out to everyone who bought a phone to the Colosseum show. Phones were then locked into the pouches and became totally inaccessible when tucked into these fuzzy little cell phone cozies. Schumer was then able to perform her set “phone free” as advertised.

Georgia Comedian Mia Jackson opened the show with a smart, witty and fun routine that spoke of social awkwardness, weight issues and racial trends, including a fun routine about how a hot dog and a George Foreman grill nearly killed her.

Then there was Bridget Everett who may have stolen the show right from under Schumer’s panties.

Most of the audience was unaware of what was about to come, but a few recognized her from “Inside Amy Schumer” and “Trainwreck”. She closed out the night in an extremely short, very loose red dress, singing a song called F**k Sh*t Up, which had more f-bombs than Schumer and Jackson combined.

Mouths dropped, tears fell and a few left the building as quick as they could. For those who stuck around, Everett performed a condensed version of her cabaret show, which included the previously stated tittie flash with an added nipple squeeze thrown in for good measure. That lead into the finale, an interactive performance of her song Titties, where select audience members got a chance to get up close and personal to said mammaries.

The three women performed three very different styles of comedy and gave the show a good balance throughout. The stage at Caesars seemed a bit large for this show, but the arena was packed to the brim and probably could have sold-out over a second night. It’s not very often a current queen of Hollywood comedy comes to Windsor.
