Scottish-born Canadian pop/rock icon Larry Gowan pulled no punches when he visited Caesars Windsor on Friday for a grand celebration of all things Gowan. The Styx frontman revisited his solo career and performed selected tracks from almost all his albums, as well as an instrumental from the latest Styx album The Mission. And he looked like a man on a mission.

Concentrating heavily on the hit album Strange Animal, Gowan brought a huge stage show, giant lights and pyro to The Colosseum and pranced around the stage wearing a Scottish kilt and a military jacket with an emblem reading “In Kilt Tonight” on the arm.

The singer/songwriter/pianist looked like he was having a blast on stage, especially with crowd pleasing songs like A Criminal Mind and Moonlight Desires. It was also nice to hear Keep Up The Fight from his 1982 debut album and a Beatles cover of Tomorrow Never Comes which blended well with his original song Moonchild's Psychedelic Holiday from the 1993 album ...But You Can Call Me Larry.

The show also boasted a rhythmic drum solo from Gowan’s Styx bandmate Todd Sucherman, which came appropriately after the Styx instrumental Khedive, a song about the ship that his dad was in when he was in the royal navy in World War II.
