It’s been 10 years since Hamilton rockers Arkells released their debut CD. Since that time, the band has won Juno awards, performed with legends like The Tragically Hip and they’ve brought a new sound to the rock world. They headline Sarnia on Saturday night (July 28) as part of Bluewater Borderfest, with Matt Mays and Dear Rouge, along with openers Rodney James and The Riot and Windsor’s Dave Russell and The Precious Stones.

This year, Arkells released a new single called People’s Champ which rose up the Canadian rock and alternative charts, giving the band a total of nine Top 10 hits since 2008’s Oh, the Boss Is Coming! It’s a precursor to a new album that is expected to be released later this year.

We spoke with the band’s lead vocalist Max Kerman about People’s Champ, new music and touring.
