Circuit Q&A – What is your Favorite Concert Film/Music Documentary?

**Circuit Q&A’s are our daily community question, posed to the readers of AwardsCircuit that cover various topics from film and television to general wonderings and for instances**
Musicians almost always make fascinating subjects for a documentary. Whether it's capturing a concert or studying them as artists/human beings, the non-fiction cinematic form is utterly drawn to them. In particular, rock stars have a special appeal. One such individual is Bruce Springsteen, who actually co-directs a hybrid of the two documentary forms in "Western Stars," opening this week. To honor that, we're asking you all to name some of your favorite efforts in the medium. It's a loaded one, too.
Speaking of Springsteen, who was also the inspiration for a narrative film this year in "Blinded by the Light," his music has long been utilized in movies. However, he's also had two documentary efforts, including the new one opening this weekend. The other? Last year's "Springsteen on Broadway," which saw his one man show filmed for global audiences. Our rave review felt it was one of the genre's best in some time, raising anticipation for "Western Stars" to an even higher point.

Elsewhere, strictly concert films include classics like "Gimme Shelter," "The Last Waltz," "Stop Making Sense," and "Woodstock." This is just the tip of the iceberg, too. It doesn't even include concert flicks from stand up comics, of which there are myriad wonderful ones. As for more general music documentaries, just this year we've seen two quality offerings in "David Crosby: Remember My Name" and "Linda Ronstadt: Sound of My Voice." Throw in other options like "20 Feet From Stardom," "Amy," "Anvil! The Story of Anvil," "Bob Dylan: Don't Look Back," "Searching for Sugar Man," among others, and it's clear that this form of documentary is a truly inspiring lot.
We put the choice in your hands now. When it comes to documentary cinema, and especially concert films or music docs, which are your favorite? Are you looking forward to Springsteen's new one? Chime in folks, we're all ears!
