What's On TV? - Wednesday (10/23/19) - A Royal Evening: Behind the Scenes of Prince Harry and Meghan's Africa Tour

This Wednesday evening is shaping up to be a historic night of television. With the new and exclusive documentary on ABC "Harry and Meghan: An African Journey" airing tonight providing never before seen footage and interviews of the royal couple, pull out your tiara for this royal evening. Additionally, Jenna Coleman who is most known for her portrayal of Queen Victoria in PBS' "Victoria," stars in "The Cry" airing tonight on Sundance. "The Cry" peels layers off the main characters' marriage as their baby goes missing, forcing them to confront the collapse of their relationship and their perspectives on loss and parenthood.

Pick of the Day
"Harry and Meghan: An African Journey" (ABC) at 10:00 p.m. ET

Ever since Meghan Markle began dating Prince Harry, she has constantly been attacked in the press for everything from her race, age, career, and personal family life. With the royal family motto of "never complain, never explain," this exclusive documentary that features interviews and never before seen footage of the royal couple in Africa surely breaks this long-held motto. Narrated by ITV British news anchor Tom Bradby, this documentary finally speaks out against the turmoil the media has caused the royal couple. History will be made tonight as we are invited to peek through the curtain of this royal couple's life and time in Africa.
A clip released earlier this week from the documentary shows Duchess Meghan, on the last day of her African royal tour, shares with Bradby how challenging it has been in the spotlight as she tries to be a wife, mother, and woman in the royal family. Harry also opens up in a separate trailer as he explains that with every flash or click of a camera, he is brought back to the grief of losing his mother, Princess Diana, to the dangerous circumstances created by the media. If these clips are any indication of the window into this extremely private couple's life and African tour, we are in for an emotional and enlightening evening.
Movies on TV
"Ocean's 8" (MAX) at 9:40 p.m. ET

A decade after the latest "Ocean's Eleven" franchise film was released, "Ocean's Thirteen," we were provided with an all-female spin-off that struck gold. Sandra Bullock plays Debbie Ocean, Danny Ocean's equally criminal sister. Just like her brother, Debbie spent her time in prison creating a plan to rob the Met Gala. Debbie rounds up seven other women to pull off the job which results in an all-star cast including Cate Blanchett, Sarah Paulson, Mindy Kaling, Awkwafina, Rihanna, Helena Bonham Carter, and Anne Hathaway. In the height of the "MeToo" and "TimesUp" movements, Hollywood (should I put "Warner Bros." here instead?) provided us with just what we needed to assure that we had finally begun a long road to women equality in Hollywood. Fast-paced with an intricate heist like the rest of the "Ocean's" films, "Ocean's Eight" is not only another film of the successful franchise but the start of the positive changes for women throughout Hollywood.
