"Arrested Development" fans, rejoice!

Creator Michael Hurwitz shared two exciting announcements today about your favorite Newport Beach miscreants.

Using the show's official Twitter page, Hurwitz announced that the fifth season is coming soon. Wrote Hurwitz:

"Like real soon. Like, if you knew when, you would not be wrong to be thinking 'why are we all just hearing about this now?'"

"Arrested Development" tells the story of the Bluth family whose real estate company takes a hit when family patriarch George is arrested for committing Bernie Madoff-style crimes. Son Michael is left to keep the business and the family together, and his crazy relatives make that as big a challenge as possible.

The series stars Jason Bateman, Tony Hale, Will Arnett, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Alia Shawkat, David Cross, Jessica Walter, and Jeffrey Tambor.

The show spent three seasons on Fox before its unfortunate cancellation due to low ratings. It was a critical darling in the early 2000s, and won several Emmy Awards for writing, for series, and for its outstanding cast. After the show's cancellation, Netflix scooped it up, and presented a fourth season several years later.

The fourth season wasn't as well-loved as the first three. Many fans were disappointed by the way the creators ditched the familiar structure and separated the clan. Hurwitz included a second announcement that this Friday, May 4, he will be released a remix of season 4.

He explains:

"But in between season 4 and this upcoming season 5 I had time to take that Rashomon-type story and recut it--shuffling the content from 15 individualized stories into 22 interwoven stories the length of the original series..."

He went on to say:

"...I also pursued it as a comedic experiment to see if new jokes and a new perspective would emerge from a remix that feature all the Bluths in every episode, and where the simultaneity of the story plays out chronologically. And I'm really excited about the final result. It's funny in a whole new way..."

The "Arrested Development Season 4 Remix: Fateful Consequences" will be available on Netflix this Friday. You can also watch the original four seasons any time. Just in time for you to celebrate the annual Cinco de Quatro party Bluth style this weekend.

Season 5 doesn't have an official release date yet. However, the last time Netflix announced something was coming "soon," they shocked the world by dropping "The Cloverfield Paradox" immediately after the Superbowl with only a few hours notice. In other words, don't be surprised if season 5 is right on the heels of this season 4 remix. And also don't be surprised if it isn't.
