Production Begins on Sports Documentary 'Equal Playing Field'

Production began Wednesday on a new documentary about female athletes who are traveling the world to raise awareness about gender inequality in sports.

The new documentary, "Equal Playing Field," follows women's soccer teams on a 12-day tour of Jordan. They will play exhibition games, establish soccer clinics, and provide outreach to girls throughout the region. The trip will finish with the lowest altitude soccer game ever attempted. This is after the same 30 women broke the Guiness World Record for the highest altitude game when they played atop Mt. Kilimanjaro.

In discussing the project, co-founder Laura Youngson said in a statement:


"After setting a world record, we're using our platform to enable other women to share their stories. Our Jordan Quest is an opportunity to celebrate women's football by bringing together women from over 23 nationalities to play and coach in communities around Jordan. We want to encourage more girls to challenge expectations and have no limits when it comes to sport. Our message is clear: invest in women and girls in sport and see them thrive."

The Dead Sea Game exhibited for "Equal Playing Field" will take place on April 5. ESPN's SportsCenter will run a live stream with players after the game.
