Awards Circuit Staff Announces 2017 Winners, 'Lady Bird' Prevails

The Awards Circuit Staff have made their selections for the best of 2017.

From a list of eleven contenders, "Lady Bird" emerged as the favorite among the staff, while "The Shape of Water" almost nabbed the win. "Lady Bird" won three awards overall, with Laurie Metcalf and Greta Gerwig winning. Saoirse Ronan was the runner up in Best Actress, second to "The Shape of Water" star Sally Hawkins.

Other big winners include the cast of "Mudbound" as the Best Ensemble, along with Dee Rees and Virgil Williams for penning the Best Adapted Screenplay. The top documentary was "Icarus," and France prevailed in the Foreign Language race with a tie between "BPM" and "Faces Places."
