Costume Designers Guild Awards: 'I, Tonya' Costume Designer Jennifer Johnson Wins Gold

Some of 2017's biggest films and TV shows received accolades for costume designer at Tuesday night's annual Costume Designers Guild Awards in Beverly Hills, CA. According to Variety, most of the nominees and honorees wore black in support of the Time's Up movement, following in the steps of the Golden Globes and BAFTAS nominees.
The winners this year were from a wide range of 2017's most beloved stories, with costumer designer Jennifer Johnson of "I, Tonya" snagging the award for Excellence in Contemporary Film, Lindy Hemming receiving the Excellence in Sci-FI/Fantasy Film Award for "Wonder Woman" and Luis Sequeira earning the Excellence in Period Film Award for "The Shape of Water." Winners from the world of television included Ane Crabtree of "The Handmaid's Tale" for Excellence in Contemporary Television and Michele Clapton of "Game of Thrones" for Excellence in Sci-Fi/Fantasy Television.
Among the honorees this year were Guillermo del Toro ("The Shape of Water") and Kerry Washington ("Scandal"), with del Toro receiving the Distinguished Collaborator Award and Washington the Spotlight Award. John Mollo, the Oscar-winning costume designer behind hits like the "Star Wars" series, was posthumously inducted into the Costume Designers Guild Hall of Fame.
