Bert Marcus Productions and Abramorama are partnering up for the North American release of the upcoming EDM documentary "What We Started."

The film, which stars some of the biggest names in electronic dance music, dives into a misunderstood, self-driven and insular corner of the music industry on the fast track into the global zeitgeist. "What We Started" will feature Carl Cox, Martin Garrix, Erick Morillo, Moby, David Guetta, Afrojack, Paul Oakenfold, Seth Troxler, and Tiesto, along with cameos from Usher and Ed Sheeran. The documentary is written and directed by Bert Marcus and Cyrus Saidi, and is produced by Cassandra Hamar, Marcus and Saidi, with executive producing from Pete Tong.

Marcus said of the upcoming documentary:
"I have passionately strived to create a thoughtful piece that transcends the stereotypes of electronic dance music by telling a story that is all-encompassing, dynamic and unexpected, and, as such, I am excited to partner with the talented team at Abramorama to share this film with theatrical audiences. What We Started weaves through the dichotomous stories of the underground beginning of the genre to the present day commercial success of the music, not only through the voices of its stars and legends, but also, and principally, through the journeys of two fascinating characters – Carl Cox and Martin Garrix."
Abramorama will premiere the film at the EDM music festival ULTRA on March 22, with a theatrical release in the U.S. and Canada on March 23. The U.S. release will also be offered on Premium TVOD, which will be followed by a summer SVOD release. Watch the trailer below.
