Florida Film Critics Circle Names 'Dunkirk' Best Film of 2017
von Clayton Davis
The Florida Film Critics Circle has announced their selections for the best of 2017. The critics group chose Christopher Nolan's "Dunkirk" as the best film of the year.
The most celebrated film, though, was Denis Villeneuve's "Blade Runner 2049," which received four awards. With prizes for cinematography, production design, visual effects and score, the sci fi sequel was richly rewarded.
When nominations were announced last week, many noted the exclusion of "The Florida Project" in key categories. The only place it was cited was for Willem Dafoe's supporting performance. Ultimately, that win went to Sam Rockwell for "Three Billboards outside Ebbing, Missouri."
The FFCC did, however, grant their annual Golden Orange Award to the cast and crew of "The Florida Project."
