Taraji P. Henson Knows 'What Men Want'
von Clayton Davis
Taraji P. Henson is set to star in "What Men Men" from Paramount, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is a gender-reversal of the 2000 film "What Women Want." That film starred Mel Gibson as a womanizing advertising executive. This time around, Henson plays a sports agent who suddenly finds herself able to hear men's thoughts. This talent comes in handy as she finds herself in a race to sign the next NBA phenom.
The original film was directed by Nancy Myers. This film does not yet have a director, but Brian Robbins of Paramount Players is producing with Will Packer and James Lopez. The pair were behind this summer's surprise hit, "Girls Trip."
Paramount Players is a newcomer to the production game. Their first project, "Eli," is also set for January 2019. The horror film stars young Charlie Shotwell as a boy with an auto-immune disease whose house is not safe. Paramount Players is also in the early stages of the sci fi film "Vacation Guide to the Solar System."
Taraji P. Henson, who also executive produces "What Men Want," has carved quite a career for herself. While she is currently starring in the Fox series "Empire," she has also appeared in a number of Academy Award-nominated films. Some of those titles include "Hustle & Flow," "The Curious Case of Benjamin Button," and a leading role in last year's "Hidden Figures."
Henson can next be seen as a mafia hitwoman in this January's "Proud Mary." And, she lends her voice to next fall's "Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2."
The search is now on for co-stars in this comedy.
"What Men Want" is set to hit theaters on January 11, 2019.
