Wyatt Cenac and John Oliver Reunite for New HBO Docuseries

Wyatt Cenac is set to star in a new 10-episode docuseries for HBO, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Cenac, an actor and comedy writer, spent five seasons alongside John Oliver on the Comedy Central series "The Daily Show," hosted by Jon Stewart. They were part of the three-time Emmy-winning writing team for that series.

Oliver left "The Daily Show" to begin his own series for HBO, "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver." That series has won six Emmys, including Outstanding Writing and Outstanding Variety Talk Series at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards. He will serve as executive producer on Cenac's new series.

The untitled show begins in the spring with a 10 episode order. It will not follow a standard variety talk format with Cenac behind a desk. Instead, he will go on "a journey" to explore issues as well as solutions. It is not yet clear exactly what that will look like, but, given Cenac's comedy roots, it will surely be as entertaining as it is insightful.

When asked about taking a new series to HBO, Cenac said:
"While my initial ask to play one of Molly’s love interests on 'Insecure' was rejected, this is a nice consolation... My thanks to Nina, Casey Bloys and everyone at HBO for finally giving me a place where I can comfortably swear on television."
More information about this series will be coming in the weeks ahead.
