WATCH: New Trailer for Upcoming Doc 'Sammy Davis, Jr: I've Gotte Be Me'

Ahead of the Toronto International Film Festival, producers have released a trailer for "Sammy Davis, Jr: I've Gotta Be Me." The film is an in-depth look at the life and career of the legendary Sammy Davis, Jr.

Davis was a singer, dancer, and actor born in 1920s Harlem. His father was African-American and his mother was Puerto Rican. He fought against prejudice and bigotry throughout his career.

This new documentary, directed by Samuel D. Pollard, includes interviews with Billy Crystal, Jerry Lewis, Norman Lear, Whoopi Goldberg, Quincy Jones and more. It also includes never-before-seen footage and photographs of the star from television appearances and concerts.

Pollard has produced a number of documentaries. In 1998, he and Spike Lee were nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature for the film "4 Little Girls." Pollard also produced the Emmy-nominated film "Sinatra: All or Nothing At All," about Sammy Davis, Jr. contemporary Frank Sinatra.

"Sammy Davis, Jr: I've Gotta Be Me" will screen at the Toronto International Film Festival.

The film does not yet have distribution, so further information about release dates will be determined at a later date.
