What is Citol, How is It Used? What are its Side Effects?
Citol; It is a drug used for the treatment of depression and is prescribed to prevent the patient from worsening when the condition starts to improve. Citol is effective in long-term treatments to prevent depressive attacks from occurring in individuals with recurrent depression.
Citol is included in the category of antidepressants and increases the level of serotonin by affecting the functioning of the happiness hormone serotonin secreted from the brain. Damages occurring in the serotonin system are the main causes that trigger depression and related ailments. Citol contributes to the reduction of symptoms in those who are prone to panic attacks and those who have obsessive compulsive (obsessive-compulsive) disorder, briefly defined as OCD.
How to Use Citol?
Citol can be used with meals or alone at any time. Tablets should be taken with enough water. Tablets should not be chewed, they have a bitter taste.
Use in adults;
In Depression Treatment;
It is recommended to take 20 mg daily as a standard. The amount of the dose can be increased to a maximum of 40 mg per day if the doctor deems it necessary.
In the Treatment of Panic Disorder;
In the first week of treatment, the initial dose is determined as 10 mg per day, before increasing the dose to 20-30 mg daily. The rate of dose can be increased up to a maximum of 40 mg per day depending on the course of treatment.
In the Treatment of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD);
The recommended dose at the beginning of treatment is 20 mg per day. If necessary, your physician can increase the dose up to a maximum of 40 mg per day.
What are the effects that may occur when treatment with Citol is terminated?
Do not end your treatment without doctor's approval. When the treatment cycle is over, the dose of Citol should be reduced slowly over several weeks. Aborting the treatment suddenly can cause tingling or numbness in the skin, dizziness and anxious mood. Also, stopping your medication suddenly may lead to some other symptoms of temporary and mild severity. For example; trouble falling asleep, realistic nightmares and dreams, vomiting, nausea, body discomfort, headache, excitement or restlessness, sweating, confusion or dizziness, tremor, soft defecation (diarrhea), emotional or hypersensitivity, hitting or palpitations (palpitations), visual disturbances and similar complaints may occur in the form of palpitations. Therefore, Citol should not be stopped suddenly when the treatment cycle is over,
What are the side effects of Citol?
Like all medicines, side effects can occur in people sensitive to the ingredients of Citol. Side effects usually disappear a few weeks after the start of treatment. You should know that the effects may also be symptoms of your disease and they will improve as you begin to heal.
