It is the second day in a row in the past two months that the number of daily deaths from the pandemic has dropped below 2,000. This is also the 12th consecutive day that less than one lakh new coronavirus cases have been reported in India.

On June 15, India reported 60,461 cases, the lowest since March 29. The total number of COVID-19 cases in the country now stands at 2,98,23,546. Active cases have come down below 10 lakh. The country currently has 7,60,019 active cases and 3,85,137 deaths so far.

According to the Ministry of Health, a total of 97,743 people have been discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of people discharged so far to 2,86,78,390.
The Health Ministry said that a total of 27,23,88,783 people have been vaccinated in the country so far, of which 33,00,085 people have been vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, 38,92,07,637 samples have been tested for COVID-19 till June 18. Of these, 19,02,009 samples were tested on Friday.
