New Delhi: Congress will protest across the country on Friday against the exorbitant prices of petrol and diesel and demand the government to immediately withdraw the increased prices.

Congress General Secretary-Organization KC Venugopal said in a statement that party workers will stage a symbolic protest in front of petrol pumps across the country on Friday and protest against the unprecedented rise in the price of petrol-diesel-cooking gas, economic slowdown, rising unemployment and demand for all essential commodities. Will draw the attention of the government to the problems being faced by the skyrocketing prices. Venugopal said that during this time special care will also be taken of the corona protocol.

Public meetings will not be held at the time of demonstration and party workers will strictly follow the rules like wearing of masks, social distancing at the time of demonstration.
Venugopal said that due to the wrong policies of the central government, the people of the country have been battling the COVID-19 for the last 15 months. People are not getting medicines and health facilities at the right time and on the other hand people are also very upset due to falling economy and decreasing employment.
Let us tell you that the prices of petrol and diesel have been touching the sky for a long time. Petrol and diesel prices in the national capital remained unchanged at Rs 95.56 and Rs 86.47 per liter, respectively.
Petrol and diesel prices have been increased for 21 days from May 4 till now, while there has been no change in the prices for the remaining 17 days.
Petrol has become costlier by Rs 5.16 and diesel by Rs 5.74 in Delhi during this period. There was no change in prices in other cities as well.
Petrol in Mumbai stood at Rs 101.76, in Chennai at Rs 96.94 and in Kolkata at Rs 95.52 per liter. Diesel sold for Rs 93.85 in Mumbai, Rs 89.32 in Kolkata and Rs 91.15 per liter in Chennai.
