New Delhi: After 94,052 new cases of covid-19 were reported in India in a day, the number of infected in the country increased to 2,91,83,121. At the same time, after death of 6,148 more people due to corona infection, the death toll increased to 3,59,676.
Since the beginning of the havoc of the global pandemic, these are the highest cases of death due to infection in a single day.

Gujarat government allowed hotels, restaurants, gyms and religious places to reopen with certain restrictions and also allowed political and other types of events with limited attendance during the period from June 11 to June 26.
Officials said that during this period from 9 am to 7 pm, hotels and restaurants can operate with 50 percent seating capacity. Till now only home delivery of food was allowed, but with the decline in the cases of new COVID-19 infections, the government decided to give some relaxations.
Parks, gardens and libraries have also been allowed to reopen between 6 am and 7 pm, an official release said. However, the night curfew will continue between 9 pm and 6 am in 36 cities.
Political, social, religious and cultural events can be organized with a maximum attendance of 50 persons during this period in compliance with the Standard Operating Protocol (SOP) for safety.
On Thursday, Mizoram reported the maximum number of 347 new cases of covid-19 in a single day, after which the number of infected in the state rose to 14,534.
An official said that out of the new cases, 246 have been reported from Aizawl district. This is followed by 50 cases from Kolasib, 31 from Longtlai and 12 from Lunglei. The remaining cases have been reported from many other districts.
About 81 children are among the new patients, the official said. He said that 13 new patients had travelled somewhere recently while others were detected during the screening of contacts of the infected.
Out of these 347 patients, 188 had symptoms of Kovid-19. According to the official, a one-day infection rate of 10.39 per cent was recorded as new cases were detected in 3,337 samples tested.
According to him, 3,585 patients are now undergoing treatment in Mizoram and on Wednesday at least 122 people recovered from the disease, taking the total number of those who recovered to 10,891.
