So, what is negotiation?
It is ‘The Process of Discussing something with someone in order to reach an agreement with them’ It involves compromise and agreement and avoiding arguments and disputes, achieving the best possible outcome for all concerned. A successful outcome will have mutual benefit while maintaining an ongoing relationship between all concerned.
If you are buying, selling, discussing extra’s, on-going disputes or more, there is an opportunity to negotiate and find an outcome to benefit all. There are a number of methods of negotiating and it is a skill that can be learned, following a structure allows you to remain in control.
So why are some people reluctant to negotiate? It could be a cultural issue, maybe they are embarrassed or have no proven method to follow. But this could be costly, especially when buying property involves large sums of money. So why don’t more people learn to use a proven method and learn the skills more effectively? The result could be a more profitable deal with relatively little extra effort.

Areas such as Verbal Communication and listening skills to problem solving and decision making all form part of the overall effectiveness. When negotiating we need to be convincing, we need to be clear in our presentation and remain in control.
