A Palestinian refugee Mahiba Khattar has lived in her apartment in Aarhus for 37 years. This place means a lot to her and keeps memories about her family alive. But because of the Danish Ghetto Law Mahiba’s House might be demolished to make way for more modern infrastructures. The new amendment to the ghetto law from 2021 also sets a maximum of 30% of residents from “non-western” backgrounds, which means that she might need to move to a different neighbourhood.
Like Mahiba Thousands of people in Denmark living in the 15 areas on the ghetto list are affected by this law. This short documentary tells a personal story about memories that are hidden behind the walls.
