Erdogan fires the central bank governor

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has dismissed the governor of the Central Bank, whom he accused of keeping rates too high, a decision fraught with consequences for the Turkish economy and which makes the institution "the hostage of the palace" presidential, according to his destroyers.
The presidential decree fell on Saturday, like a chopper: Murat Cetinkaya, whose term runs until 2020, is replaced by Murat Uysal, his deputy governor.
