Assange case: a Swedish court rejects a request for arrest
A Swedish court on Monday rejected the request to issue an arrest warrant against Julian Assange. This request was made by the prosecution, which hoped to transfer the founder of WikiLeaks to Sweden, where he is being prosecuted for alleged rape.
The court found "the suspicions against Julian Assange and recognizes the risk that he is trying to evade justice" but, since he is incarcerated in Britain, "investigative procedures can be conducted under the regime of the European Investigation Order ", a mechanism for cooperation between Member States of the European Union in criminal investigations.
