Syrian rebels announce counter-attack in North West

Syrian rebels said on Monday they had launched a counterattack against government forces in northwestern Syria.
"A military operation has begun to target the north of the Hama campaign today," rebel group Djaïch al Izza said in a statement. He added that the jihadist group Tahrir al Cham and the National Liberation Front, supported by Turkey, were taking part in this offensive.
The Syrian army and its Russian ally have been intensifying since the end of April their bombings against the last rebel positions in the northern province of Hama and southern Idlib province. The fighting has left more than 150,000 displaced. This is the most serious escalation in the conflict since last summer.
