Danish Anti-Muslim party could enter parliament

A new Danish far-right group called Stram Kurs (Hard Line), which wants to ban Islam and expel hundreds of thousands of Muslims, could win seats in this spring's parliamentary elections, according to a poll released Monday.

The Voxmeter Institute survey credits Stram Kurs, founded in 2017 by lawyer Rasmus Paludan, with 2.4% of voting intentions, above the 2% threshold needed to sit in the Danish parliament. Two other polls published last week have also forecast entry of the small formation in parliament, with 2.7% of votes according to one survey and 3.9% according to the other.

Such a result is likely to destabilize the main Danish populist party, DF, which has been part of the political establishment for decades and until recently was the most intransigent on immigration issues.

Stram Kurs has collected the 20.000 signatures of voters necessary to be able to present candidates to the elections, which will take place by 17 June at the latest......
