Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika 's brother Said arrested

Said Bouteflika, the brother of deposed Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, considered a real strongman in the presidential palace since his brother's stroke, was arrested on Saturday with two former intelligence chiefs, Mohamed Mediene, the former boss of secret service and ex-intelligence coordinator Athmane Tartag.

"It seems that these three people were arrested as part of a kind of conspiracy plot against the army and also against the Republic when they tried to impose another political solution after the decision of Abdelaziz Boutaflika not to to run for a fifth term, "said Tarik Hafid, a journalist at Soir d'Algerie.

At 61, Saïd Bouteflika, was a powerful advisor to the former president and one of the hated protesters who took to the streets every Friday since late February to demand the end of the Bouteflika system.......
