Syria: Anti-IS coalition killed 1,600 civilians in Raqqa during offensive in 2017

More than 1,600 civilians were killed in the Syrian city of Raqqa in 2017 during the US-led international anti-jihadist coalition offensive against the Islamic State (IS) group, according to a report released Thursday by Amnesty International.
Former de facto capital of the ex-caliphate self-proclaimed in 2014 by the IS, the city of Raqqa , in the north of Syria, was destroyed at nearly 80% during this four-month-long offensive. which aimed to dislodge the jihadists.
"Many aerial bombardments were not accurate and tens of thousands of artillery shells were fired indiscriminately," Donatella Rovera, Amnesty International's crisis management advisor, said on Thursday.
The organization conducted the investigation in collaboration with Airwars, an NGO that identifies civilian victims of aerial bombardments around the world.....
