Sri Lanka: a disabled bomb near Colombo airport

Attacks on churches and hotels killed more than 200 people on Sunday. Should the attacks on Sri Lanka be more deadly? Anyway, a police source told AFP that a bomb "artisanal" was found late Sunday on a road leading to the main terminal of the airport.

An army spokesman mentioned a "two meter long PVC pipe containing explosives". The government has put in place a curfew "until further notice" and reinforced security checks at Colombo airport, after the attacks that left 207 dead in Sri Lanka. The carrier Sri Lankan Airlines advised its customers to arrive four hours before their flight.

Aircraft passengers will be able to cross the roadblocks on the airport road during curfew by presenting their passports and tickets, the airline said.

In just a few hours, bombs caused death and desolation in four hotels and three churches, during Easter Mass, in several places on the South Asian island, which had not seen such an outburst of violence since end of the civil war ten years ago. So far 13 people have been arrested, the police said.
