Resignation of the Malian government after the Fulani massacre

Malian Prime Minister Soumeylou Boubeye Maiga and his entire government resigned on Thursday, President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita announced, four weeks after the Fulani massacre by gunmen in central Mali that shocked the country.
Nearly 160 people died in this attack, the most deadly in the country's recent history. Five people suspected of having participated in the massacre were arrested last month by the Malian authorities.
The communiqué issued by the presidency does not specify the reason for the resignation of the head of the government.
MPs on Wednesday raised the possibility of voting mistrust against the government for its failure in the fight against ethnic militias and jihadists.
