Amazon Comedy Specials featuring

Amazon Comedy Special

Amazon today announced that one week after the release of Amazon’s first original stand up special (that’s Jim Gaffigan on August 16), the streaming platform will drop four additional hour specials on their PRIME platform.
The series features an hour from one of our favorite comics, Alonzo Bodden. Additionally, #IMomSoHard, Alice Wetterlund and a comic we've been watching for awhile, Mike E. Winfield will also be featured. All four shows premiere Friday, August 23rd, exclusively on Amazon Prime Video. The two we're most interested in (this is an African-American based comedy blog, for now), are Alonzo Bodden and Mike E. Winfield.

Comedian Alonzo Bodden

In "Alonzo Bodden: Heavy Lightweight," Bodden isn’t afraid to talk about anything. The special touches a wide range of topics, everything from slavery to cell phones. We love the way he 'keeps it real' without being to angry or rebellious. Bodden is the perfect mix of brother from the block, and wise ole' industry man. In 'Heavy Lightweight' he also discusses the #MeToo Movement, millennials, Kanye  West, Taco Bell and a little bit about Israel too.
Bodden has been making audiences around the country laugh for more than 20 years. Since his win on NBC’s "Last Comic Standing," he has starred in two comedy specials for Showtime: 'Historically Incorrect' and 'Who’s Paying Attention', and has made appearances on series including ABC’s Dr. Ken and Fresh Off the Boat, Dr. Phil, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Last year, he released his fifth comedy CD titled Man Overboard, and currently hosts the podcast Who’s Paying Attention?
Bodden is a regular panelist on NPR’s "Wait Wait…Don’t Tell Me."

Comedian Mike E. Winfield

'Mike E. Winfield: StepMan' is the newest special from the stand-up comedian, actor, creator and rising star. Winfield has been silently beating down hollywood doors and will soon become a household name. Mike can be seen in the Netflix comedy special Brad Paisley’s Comedy Rodeo and the feature film "Pimp" alongside Keke Palmer. Winfield is no slouch, he beat-out over 1,600 comedians to win the Annual NBC Stand-Up Comedy Competition.
