What is Audiogram?

An audiogram is the graphical representation of the degree of the hearing loss measured by the electronic device called audiometer.

An audiogram is recorded for both ears in order to determine the degree of conductive and sensorineural hearing loss.
  • If both the lines of air and bone conductions runs above the 25dB for all types of pure tones, it is considered normal.
  • If both the lines of air and bone conduction runs below the 25dB ( intensity greater than 25 decibels) for all types of pure tones, it is called mixed hearing loss.
  • If the line of either air conduction or bone conduction, run below 25 dB for all pure tones, it is called conductive and sensorineural hearing loss respectively.
  • If the line of either air conduction or bone conduction, runs below 25 dB for a specific pure tone say 1000 Hz, it is called conductive or sensorineural hearing loss for that specific frequency or pure tone.
