Maximilian Handl

Hello! I’m Maximilian Handl (Max), a journalist specialising in world politics and foreign affairs, with a particular focus on Latin America, especially Brazil. My work includes reports, longreads, and in-depth research, often exploring the connections between South America and Europe. I also sometimes revisit historical events, breathing new life into old stories.

With a degree from the Austrian Journalism College and a Master’s thesis on political communication in Brazil, I bring both in-depth knowledge and international perspectives to my work. Through my memberships in fact-checking networks and my extensive experience in the public service, I’ve developed a strong understanding of precise, fact-based reporting.

In various podcasts, I share all sorts of topics and conduct research in German and English, and occasionally in other languages.
