Although we know what helps, we don't seem to manage to pull the emergency brake.

  • We don't sleep enough: One in six people sleeps no more than five hours on a normal working day. (Source)
  • We move too little: According to the WHO, one in four adults worldwide gets too little exercise. Kelly McGonigal recommends 5,600 steps a day for happiness in her book "The Joy of Movement". The average global citizen manages just 4,961 steps a day.
  • We work too much: In the home office, the boundaries between free time and working time become blurred, and it's hard to switch off. Added to this is the fear of losing their job in times of economic crisis. Many report longer working days and irregular working hours.
  • We drink more: Scientists determined increasing alcohol consumption in more than one third of adults since the beginning of the corona crisis. 37.4 percent of the 3200 participants stated that they had drunk "more or much more alcohol" than before.
  • We spend the evening on the couch in wool socks rather than running shoes: Pandemic beneficiary Netflix saw an 8.5 million increase in paying subscribers in the last three months of 2020 - cracking the 200 million mark.
