1 Woche als Rotating Curator für @ichbinBW 2013.

Oliver Gassner has started the @ichbinBW Twitter account in the beginning of the year. Each week a different person from Baden-Württemberg curates the account with their own personal touch. The concept of Rotation Curation was started by @Sweden in December 2011 and has since spread to not only countries but also regions, cities and even companies such as @being-vodafone. I'm not born in Baden-Württemberg but have lived here for most of the past 8 years. After following the account for a while I decided to apply for curating the account between April 22 and April 28.

As a follower of the account I clearly enjoyed its diversity but quality has been as diverse as the people curating the accounts. Some weeks I was about to unfollow the account because of the sheer mass of largely bland tweets that flooded my Twitter timeline while in most weeks I learned some interesting things about the state I'm living in. As a curator I found it hard with the many people the account is following to keep track of all of their tweets. The follower-base is quite political and there also is much more private chatter than in my personal account where I clearly value quality over quantity. Looking back, it is hard to distinguish who published which tweets and I find it confusing to look at my own tweets with the picture of another curator next to it. Therefore I find it important to carefully select curators because one unqualified curator can shed a bad light on the whole account and all of its former curators. Unfortunately it also was a busy week in which I spent a lot of time in trains without a solid internet connection so that it was not always easy to publish tweets and keep up with interactions.

If you would also like to tweet for @ichbinBW have the heart to apply. You should have prior experience with Twitter in order not to struggle with the technology too much, have strong bonds with Baden-Württemberg and be ready to publish at least 3 - 5 tweets (in German) for a full week.
