HUME -- The village of Hume will celebrate its sesquicentennial -- its 150th anniversary -- with a celebration this weekend.
A "History of Hume" exhibit will run all three days inside St. Michael's Parish Hall. The exhibit will showcase items throughout the village's history. The exhibit will open to the public Friday at 4 p.m. and will close at noon on Sunday.
All other events will be at the Russell Grafton Memorial Park unless otherwise specified. Food and merchandise vendors will be available for your perusal on Friday and Saturday.
Friday events include a community dinner at 4 p.m., a tie-dye event at 5 p.m., a road rally at 5:30, and a free foam party beginning at 8. In addition, activities for kids will be available beginning at 8 before a movie with snacks at 9.
A look at the weekend's events in Hume
There will be a breakfast at the community center to kick off Saturday's schedule of events beginning at 7 a.m. Other events are as follows:
- History Ramble beginning at 8:30 a.m.
- Hometown Band kicking off at 9:30 a.m.
- Opening ceremonies at 10 a.m.
- Kiddie tractor pull at 10:30 a.m.
- Brothers of the Brush beard contest at 11 a.m.
- Cornhole tournament, Junior Redneck Games, and the Hoult Band at 11:30 a.m.
Saturday's afternoon and evening events are as follows:
- Inflatables and zipline from noon to 4 p.m.
- Music from the Coon Holler Kids at 2 p.m.
- Senior Redneck Games at 2:30 p.m.
- Bingo and a Jonah Fish Fry beginning at 4:30 p.m.
- Lawn Yahtzee tournament at 5 p.m.
Closing ceremonies for the celebration will be at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday.
