Pana car wash to close

Pana car wash to close

PANA -- A Pana car wash that has gone through several owners over the years is closing soon.

Classic Car Wash, owned by Bob Crawford, is closing operations at the end of June. The closure will make way for an expansion project for the Pana Qik 'n Ez store.

The deal was in the works for at least five years. However, due to the death of Chronister Oil owner Grady Chronister in September 2018, the deal would face a road block before revisiting discussions.

Chronister Oil and Crawford signed off on the purchase agreement last year while Crawford would continue the operations of the car wash. Chronister Oil is the parent company of Qik 'n Ez Convenience Stores.

Crawford estimates that Qik 'n Ez will begin construction around the end of July.

The site of Classic Car Wash was known for several decades as Super Wash, which was in operation for nearly four decades before closing and going on the market.

Chronister Oil owns several other properties in other parts of town, which have seen significant remodeling in recent years.

Crawford's other car wash across the street, Squeaky Clean Car Wash, will remain in operation.
