Barcelona captain, Andres Iniesta, has admitted it would bother him to see "unique and decisive" Neymar join Real Madrid because it would strengthen Barcelona's main rival.
Iniesta played with the Neymar for four years at the Nou Camp before the world's most expensive footballer record transfer fee of €222million to Paris Saint-Germain .
Although the Brazilian been linked with a return to Spain, with Madrid president Florentino Perez said to be making advances to sign him.
Perez claims claims the Brazil superstar would be more likely to win the Ballon d'Or if he moved to the Santiago Bernabeu.
Luis Suarez, another of Neymar's former teammates, recently said that he thinks the Brazilian has too much loyalty to Barcelona to ever move to their hated rivals, but Iniesta feels differently.
"Anything can happen in football," the Barca captain told a news conference when asked if he thought Neymar could replace Ronaldo at Madrid. "We've seen situations which seemed impossible and have then happened before.
Iniesta said, "I would be indifferent, it's not something that matters to me in that sense, but maybe it would bother me because I understand that he is a unique and decisive player and our biggest rivals would be reinforced, but this is hypothetical. In football anything can happen. If it happens, we'll see.
"I would be indifferent. Maybe it would annoy me a little bit because he's a game-changer and he would strengthen a rival. But I'm not worried about it."
Iniesta said. "A player at Ronaldo's level, who has won the Ballon d'Or five times, obviously he is among the best.
"From there, we all have our own preferences. Mine is clear. I'd go with my teammate, with Leo, for all that he's represented and still represents."
